Auto Dealer License And Two Things You May Have Overlooked
As an auto dealer license holder, I see the industry and its uprising, and I stand amazed. We have been having some great years but have we ever asked ourselves: Who are the people behind all of this?
As disappointing as this may be, we never ask that, we just enjoy, without ever paying attention to what really is helping the business grow. Apart from the obvious, economy and its behavior, and that kind of stuff. Who do you think are the ones to blame?
Let me tell you my dear fellow friends, it is our sales people. Dealerships spend thousands of dollars in marketing and advertisement but never pay much attention to these committed sales people that are always there.
It is no secret, nor for me or any other auto dealer license holder, that times have dramatically changed, and so has the way to interact with customers.
These days customers want a knowledgeable salesperson that can assist them properly without feeling they are losing their time. We can only start to train and retrain our sales staff. Understand that many people do not want to invest time and money in re-training staff but, think it through. Every person needs to feel they belong somewhere, by keeping things fresh and acknowledging the hard work they do for your dealership, the sales staff will be much more efficient, and turnover will decrease. It is not something I believe it is a proven fact, turn your head to other industries and see it for yourselves.
This is one of the things I noticed happens all the time at dealerships; another thing is: The dealer license plate.
For us dealers, it is no problem to close a deal, and before the customer takes the vehicle out of the lot, we go ahead and slap on the car a dealer license plate. Many dealers do it, if you look around you will see, what you overlooked is that it is illegal. Yep! Illegal. It is against the law to block out the state name, the state slogan, and the license plate’s expiration date. Although many people do it, which does not necessarily mean it is correct. Customers do not like it anyhow and moreover you do not want you customer to have a fine for something neither any of you knew. Well! Guess what? Now you know.
